VNF’S ASTAXANTHIN – A NEW AND BREAKTHROUGH PRODUCT
Astaxanthin is a natural carotenoid, commonly found in microalgae, crustaceans, and salmon. It is widely regarded as the king of antioxidants and used to boost the immunity, support cardiovascular system, reduce pain, improve disease resistance, etc. Astaxanthin is also used as a valuable natural color in many industries.
VNF signs MOU with An Phat Holdings and Itochu Corporation
On November 3, 2020, in Hanoi, Vietnam, VNF signed an official MOU with An Phat Holdings (APH) and Itochu Corporation on the co-production and distribution of compostable products derived from Chitosan.
VNF will be responsible for producing eco-friendly and customizable Chitosan, An Phat Holdings will create biodegradable products and compounds containing Chitosan, and Itochu Corporation will market and distribute the Chitosan compound and final product worldwide. Initial target applications include the food and medical industry.
With the aim of developing novel, compostable compounds and finished products, this collaborative venture is expected to be a breakthrough solution - not only against plastic pollution but also the need for anti-microbial protection amid COVID-19.
FROM SHRIMP SHELL TO BIOPLASTIC
The bioplastic solution needed by the world won’t be solved overnight by one company. But VNF’s Chitosan can step up to play a significant part, either as 100% Chitosan-based bioplastic or as an additive with existing bioplastic producers (PLA, PBAT, PHA, PHB, etc.). Togethers, VNF’s Chitosan help to fight bacterial contamination and boost biodegradability.
Because it’s just not shrimp co-products VNF is saving from landfill pollution; we’re also stopping single-use plastics from heading that same way.
